---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. I.e. knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Choose diagram for your size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP (applies to mid under sleeves): Work until 2 stitches remain before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarns over twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work back piece and front piece back and forth on circular needle, bottom up separately. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle bottom up from where sleeve cap begins, then work sleeve cap back and forth on circular needle until finished measurements. Sew the piece together as explained in pattern. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work neck edge in the round in rib. BACK PIECE: Cast on 102-106-118-122-134-150 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 MM = US 9 with color purple haze in DROPS Air. Work first row as follows from right side: A.1, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, work A.2 4-4-4-4-4-6 times in total, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in garter stitch, A.1. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 94-98-110-114-126-138 stitches on needle. Work next row as follows from right side: A.1, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.3 4-4-4-4-4-6 times in total, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.1. Continue pattern back and forth like this. NOTE! On every row knitted from wrong side in A.3, knit all stitches from wrong side over all stitches on row. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When A.3 has been worked 3-3-4-4-4-4 times vertically, begin stripes. At the same time as working stripes and pattern bind off for armholes and neck. Read therefore sections STRIPES, ARMHOLE and NECK before continuing. STRIPES: Switch to color off white. Work next row as follows from right side: A.1, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.4 4-4-4-4-4-6 times in total, 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in stockinette stitch, A.1. Continue pattern like this. NOTE! When switching color in A.4, this applies from the beginning of row, and on every row knitted from wrong side in A.4, knit from wrong side also over the 0-2-0-2-8-3 stitches in stockinette stitch in each side. When A.4 has been worked 2-2-2-3-3-3 times in total vertically, work A.5 the same way over stitches in A.4 (work the other stitches as before). When A.5 has been worked, work A.3 the same way over stitches in A.5 with color purple haze until piece measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from cast-on edge where the curve goes down (work the other stitches as before in color purple haze). Then work in stockinette stitch over all stitches until finished measurements (= approx. 2 cm = ¾" in stockinette stitch over all stitches). ARMHOLES: When piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm = 14½"-15"-15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½" measured from where the curve goes down, bind off 2-2-4-4-6-6 stitches for armholes at the beginning of the next 2 rows = 90-94-102-106-114-126 stitches left. Now continue the pattern as before with 6-8-4-6-10-5 stitches in stockinette stitch and 1 stitch in garter stitch at the edge in each side (on every row knitted from wrong side in A.5 and A.3, knit from wrong side over all stitches on row). NECK: When piece measures approx. 53-55-57-59-61-63 cm = 21"-21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾" measured from cast-on edge where curve goes down, bind off for neck - adjust the length to begin on a row from right side in stockinette stitch. Bind off the middle 32-32-32-36-36-36 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue the pattern and bind off 2 stitches for neck at the beginning of next row from the neck = 27-29-33-33-37-43 stitches remain on shoulder (work stitches that do not fit 1 repetition in width with A.3 in stockinette stitch). NOTE! Remember to finish the pattern when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from cast-on edge where the curve goes down, then work in stockinette stitch back and forth over all stitches. When piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from cast-on edge where the curve goes down, bind off all stitches somewhat loosely by knitting from right side. Work the other shoulder the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on the same number of stitches as back piece and work the same way as back piece until piece measures approx. 49-51-52-54-55-56 cm = 19¼"-20"-20½"-21¼"-21⅝"-22" measured from where the cast on edge curves down - adjust length to begin on a row from right side with stockinette stitch. Slip the middle 22 stitches on 1 thread for neck, and finish each shoulder separately. Continue pattern as before and bind off for neck at the beginning of every row from neck as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 2-2-2-3-3-3 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 27-29-33-33-37-43 stitches remain on shoulder (work the stitches that do not fit 1 repetition in width with A.3 in stockinette stitch). When piece measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼", work in stockinette stitch back and forth over all stitches (adjust according to back piece). When piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26", bind off all stitches somewhat loosely by knitting from right side. Work the other shoulder the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 63-63-67-67-71-71 stitches on double pointed needles size 5.5 MM = US 9 with color purple haze in DROPS Air. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of round (mid under sleeve). Work 0-0-2-2-4-4 stitches in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, work A.2 3 times in total (choose diagram with 21 stitches in all sizes), 0-0-2-2-4-4 stitches in garter stitch. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 57-57-61-61-65-65 stitches on round. Work next round as follows: 0-0-2-2-4-4 stitches in stockinette stitch, work A.3 3 times in total (choose diagram with 19 stitches in all sizes), 0-0-2-2-4-4 stitches in stockinette stitch. Continue pattern like this. NOTE! On every round where stitches in A.3 are purled, purl over all stitches on round. When A.3 has been worked 3 times vertically, knit 1 round while decreasing 9-7-9-9-11-9 stitches evenly = 48-50-52-52-54-56 stitches. Then work in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 16 cm = 6¼" measured from where the curve goes down, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve - read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 6-5-4-3½-2½-2½ cm = 2⅜"-2"-1½"-1¼"-1"-1" 6-7-8-9-10-10 times in total = 60-64-68-70-74-76 stitches. When piece measures 48-48-45-45-42-40 cm = 19"-19"-17¾"-17¾"-16½"-15¾" measured from cast-on edge where the curve goes down, work piece back and forth on circular needle from mid under sleeve until sleeve cap measures approx. 1-1-3-3-4-4 cm = ⅜"-⅜"-1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-1½". Loosely bind off. Sleeve measures approx. 49-49-48-48-46-44 cm = 19¼"-19¼"-19"-19"-18"-17¼" from cast-on edge where the curve goes down. Work another sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew side seams – begin at armhole and sew edge to edge in outer loop of outermost stitch but stop seam when approx. 20 cm = 8" remain at the bottom in each side for vents. Sew sleeve cap to armholes inside 1 stitch in garter stitch. Sew vent at the top of sleeve to bottom of armhole – see chart. NECK EDGE: Begin at one shoulder seam and pick up from right side , approx. 82-82-84-92-94-96 stitches around the neck (including stitches on thread) on a short circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 with color purple haze. Number of stitches must be divisible 2. Work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 1 for 5 cm = 2". Bind off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. |

Bon tricot!

Good afternoon.can I use cotton yarn for this pattern..?thank you
04.04.2023 - 15:13DROPS Design answered:
Hi Sophie, If you choose a cotton yarn from the same yarn group as Drops Air (Group C; or 2 strands of a cotton yarn from group A), you can use the pattern and stitch number as it stands. We do recommend that you work a swatch before beginning your work to test your knitting tension. You can find the yarn groups to the right and slightly below the photograph. Happy Easter!
