\r\n\r\nKan I uddybe. Vh

I am having trouble understanding the bind off for the armholes. Have you got a video or tutorial that explains how to decrease for the armholes when knitting in the round.? I would appreciate this help thankyou. Julie
07.05.2024 - 09:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Mcdermott, you will bind off for armhole on a round from right side, ie on last round on body, then after stitches have been bound off for armholes, you will continue working each piece separately back and forth on needle. Happy knitting!

I couldnt follow the v neck instructions. I got confused with knitting to one stitch before the centre stitch then slipping 2 which means i would be slipping the centre stitch but then it says to knit one and pass the two slipped stitches over the knitted stitch? is that the centre stitch or the newly knitted stitch. It didnt make sense
30.03.2024 - 02:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Bella, you work the stitch before and central stitch together, then knit 1 stitch and pass the slipped stitches over the new knit stitch. Now this knit stitch is the new central stitch. Happy knitting!

Can I make this with 2 stands of fabel? It’s not given as an option by the yarn converter but the pattern does say you can use 2 strands of a group A yarn. Is there a reason why fabel is not given as an option by the yarn converter?
12.08.2022 - 15:34DROPS Design answered:
Dear Radhika, yes, you can use 2 strnds of DROPS Fabel instead. Happy knitting!

Why do you need an odd number of stitches for the Vneck part? If I do 1p1k rib there would be a section, where it is either 2k or 2p. Where should this section go and what is the point of it?
29.03.2022 - 19:35DROPS Design answered:
Dear Eva, you need an uneven number so you will have one stitch as the middle stitch at the middle front. Happy Knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off; the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle bottom up as far as the armholes. Then the front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth with circular needle and the v-neck is worked on the front piece. To finish, ribbed edging is worked around the neck and armholes. BODY: Cast on 108-116-124-128-136-144 stitches with circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and Air. Knit 1 round, then work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Change to circular needle size 5 MM = US 8. Work stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 16-18-21-24-27-30 cm = 6¼"-7"-8¼"-9½"-10⅝"-11¾" bind off stitches for the armholes as follows: Bind off the first 4 stitches, work the next 46-50-54-56-60-64 stitches (= front piece), bind off 8 stitches, work the next 46-50-54-56-60-64 stitches (= back piece) and bind off the last 4 stitches on the round. Let the stitches for front piece rest in the needle or place them on a thread while working the back piece. BACK PIECE: = 46-50-54-56-60-64 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work stockinette stitch back and forth – AT THE SAME TIME bind off for the armholes at the beginning of each row in each side as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 1 time, and bind off 1 stitch 1 time = 40-44-48-50-54-58 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 31-34-38-42-46-50 cm = 12¼"-13⅜"-15"-16½"-18"-19¾". On the next row bind off the middle 14-14-16-16-18-18 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue with stockinette stitch and bind off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 12-14-15-16-17-19 stitches on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 33-36-40-44-48-52 cm = 13"-14¼"-15¾"-17¼"-19"-20½". Bind off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 46-50-54-56-60-64 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the row, with 23-25-27-28-30-32 stitches on each side of the thread (the marker thread is used when working the v-neck). READ THE NEXT SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Continue with stockinette stitch and bind off for the armholes at the beginning of each row in each side as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 1 time, and bind off 1 stitch 1 time = 40-44-48-50-54-58 stitches. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 19-22-25-29-32-36 cm = 7½"-8¾"-9¾"-11⅜"-12½"-14¼" divide the piece and decrease for the neck as follows – from the right side: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together and work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above. Place the remaining 20-22-24-25-27-29 stitches after the marker thread on a thread (without working them). Each shoulder is finished separately; do not cut the strand. The left shoulder is worked first. LEFT SHOULDER (front piece): = 19-21-23-24-26-28 stitches. Work stockinette stitch with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the neck, and decrease for neck the same way inside of 1 edge stitch on the end of row from the right side every 1½-1½-1-1-1-1 cm = ½"-½"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" a total of 8-8-9-9-10-10 times (including the first decrease when the front piece was divided) = 12-14-15-16-17-19 stitches on the shoulder. Continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side until the piece measures 33-36-40-44-48-52 cm = 13"-14¼"-15¾"-17¼"-19"-20½". Bind off with knit from the right side. RIGHT SHOULDER (front piece): Place the stitches from the thread back onto the needle = 20-22-24-25-27-29 stitches. Work stockinette stitch with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the neck, and decrease for the neck on the inside of 1 edge stitch at the beginning of row from the right side every 1½-1½-1-1-1-1 cm = ½"-½"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜"-⅜" (decrease by slipping 1 stitch, knitting 1 and passing the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch) a total of 8-8-9-9-10-10 times = 12-14-15-16-17-19 stitches on the shoulder. Continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch towards the neck until the piece measures 33-36-40-44-48-52 cm = 13"-14¼"-15¾"-17¼"-19"-20½". Bind off with knit from the right side. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. ARMHOLES: Use short circular needle or double pointed needles size 4 MM = US 6. Start from the right side at the bottom of the armhole and knit up 58-62-66-70-74-78 stitches inside the 1 edge stitch around the armhole (number of stitches should be divisible by 2). Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read BINDING-OFF TIP! Work the other armhole in the same way. NECK: Use short circular needle size 4 MM = US 6. Start from the right side by the shoulder seam and knit up approx. 67-69-75-77-79-83 stitches around the neck (including the stitches on the thread; the number of stitches should be divisible by 2 + 1). Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) – make sure you have a knitted stitch mid front of the v-neck. AT THE SAME TIME on every 2nd round decrease 2 stitches mid front as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the knitted stitch, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1 and pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). Doing this will give you a neat v-neck and the knitted stitch will give a straight line mid-front. Work this rib for 3 cm = 1⅛". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember BINDING-OFF TIP! |
