Busy days for the DROPS team!
The designers have made many beautiful new creations which will make up the autumn/winter collection 2013/14. The designs are now being photographed and will be available online by the beginning of June so that you can vote for your favorites! We look forward to reading your comments to the new collection!

GARTER ST (in the round on double pointed needles): 1 ridge = 2 rounds * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*.
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows.
ENTRELAC PATTERN: See diagram D-1 and D-2 for rows, squares and knitting direction.
KNITTING TIP:
The knitting gauge can be somewhat looser when working squares. If this is the case work on lower needle size so that the knitting gauge is correct.
HEEL DECREASE:
Work in garter st back and forth on needle - while AT THE SAME TIME slipping sts on a stitch holder in each side as follows:
Row 1-2: K all sts and slip last st on row on a stitch holder.
Row 3-4: K all sts.
Repeat row 1-4 until there are 11-11-12 sts on the stitch holders in each side and 12-15-16 sts remaining on needle.
Insert a marker in the piece.
Then work in garter st while AT THE SAME TIME working the sts from the stitch holder back on the needle as follows:
Row 1-2: K all sts and K 1 st from stitch holder back on needle. NOTE! Knit up 2 sts between sts on needle and sts on stitch holder to avoid holes. On next row K tog the 3 new sts.
Row 3-4: K all sts.
Repeat row 1-4 until there are 34-37-40 sts on needle again and K 1 row over all heel sts.
--------------------------------------------------------
LEG:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Read KNITTING TIP! Wind up 6 smaller balls of yarn to get as few thread ends as possible.
Cast on 48-54-60 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1or2 with Fabel. Work 8 rounds in GARTER ST - see explanation above.
Then work "squares". All squares are worked separately back and forth in GARTER ST - see explanation above - and all sts for squares from and with 2nd row are knitted up from RS. See D-1.
1st Row, 1st Half Square (1st row = from RS):
K 1, turn piece and K 1 back. K 2, turn piece and K 2 back. Continue like this by working 1 st more for every time until 8-9-10 sts have been worked back and forth. K 8-9-10 sts. Leave sts on needle.
Then work a total of 6 Half Squares the same way around the sock. All sts have now been worked.
2nd Row, 1st Whole Square:
Knit up 8-9-10 sts along the edge of the 1st Half Square. * Turn piece, K back over the 8-9-10 sts, K 1 from needle on the 6th Half Square = 9-10-11 sts. Turn piece, K 2 tog, K the remaining 7-8-9 sts = 8-9-10 sts *, repeat from *-* until all sts from the 6th Half Square have been worked. Leave sts on needle, do not cut the thread.
2nd Row, 2nd Whole Square:
Start with a new ball. Start in the middle of 1st and 2nd Half Square. Knit up 8-9-10 sts along the edge of the 2nd Half Square. Then work as 1st Whole Square from *-* until all sts from the 1st Half Square have been worked.
3rd to 6th Whole Square:
Work as 2nd Whole Square between all the Half Squares from 1st Row = a total of 6 Whole Squares.
3rd Row Whole Squares:
Start with thread on the 1st Whole Square. Knit up 8-9-10 sts down along the edge of 1st Whole Square, K 1 from 2nd Whole Square = 9-10-11 sts. * Turn piece, K 2 tog, K the remaining 7-8-9 sts = 8-9-10 sts. Turn piece, K 8-9-10 sts and K 1 from 2nd Whole Square = 9-10-11 sts *, repeat from *-* until all sts from 2nd Whole Square have been worked and there are 8-9-10 sts on needle. Leave sts on needle, do not cut the thread.
Then work Whole Squares the entire round.
Work 4th Row and 5th Row with Whole Squares the same way as before. See D-1 for rows, squares and knitting direction.
When a total of 5 rows with squares (incl row with half squares at the beg) have been worked, work 3 Half Squares as follows:
1st Half Square:
Knit up 8-9-10 sts along the edge of the 2nd Square on 5th Row. K 1 row over sts and K 1 from the 1st square on same row = 9-10-11 sts. Turn piece, K 2 tog, K 6-7-8 sts, slip last st on a stitch holder. Turn piece, K 7-8-9 sts, K 1 from the 1st Square, turn piece. K 2 tog, K 5-6-7 sts, slip last st on stitch holder. Continue like this until all sts from the 1st Square have been worked and there are 8-9-10 sts on the stitch holder.
2nd and 3rd Half Square:
Knit up sts and work Half Squares the same way as on the 1st Half Square.
There are now 24-27-30 sts (3 x 8-9-10 sts) on stitch holder.
Knit up 1 st before stitch holder, slip the first 8-9-10 sts on needle, knit up 1 st between the 1st and 2nd Half Square, slip the next 8-9-10 sts from stitch holder on needle, knit up 1 st between the 2nd and 3rd Half Square, slip the last 8-9-10 sts from stitch holder back on needle and knit up 1 st after sts on stitch holder = 28-31-34 sts on needle for heel. Turn piece and K 1 row from WS while AT THE SAME TIME inc 6 sts evenly over heel sts = 34-37-40 sts. Continue with HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above.
FOOT:
After heel decrease, K 1 row from WS over heel sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec 10 sts evenly = 24-27-30 sts.
Then work 3 Half Squares over heel sts (1st, 2nd and 3rd Half Square) as follows: K 8-9-10 sts, turn piece. K 1, turn piece and K back. K 2, turn piece and K back. Continue like this by working 1 st more for every time until 8-9-10 sts have been worked back and forth. Leave sts on needle.
Then work 3 Whole Squares on top of foot (4th, 5th and 6th Whole Square) as before. Then work 5 Rows with Whole Squares as before. See D-2 for rows, squares and knitting direction.
Then work 6 Half Squares the same way as Half Squares worked before heel decrease. There are now 48-54-60 sts (6 x 8-9-10 sts) on stitch holder. Knit up 1 st between the 1st and last half square, * K 8-9-10 sts from stitch holder on to needle, knit up 1 st between 2 half squares * repeat from *-* until all sts from stitch holder have been worked back on to needle = 54-60-66 sts (approx. 4-5-5 cm / 1½"-2"-2" remain until finished measurements). Insert a marker in each side = 27-30-33 sts on upper foot and 27-30-33 sts under foot. Continue to work in Garter st in the round over all sts. AT THE SAME TIME dec for toe on each side of each marker as follows: Before K 1 and marker: K 2 tog. After marker and K 1: K 2 twisted tog (i.e. work in the back loop of st instead of front). Repeat dec every other round a total of 10-12-14 times = 14-12-10 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
