NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inch - click here.
There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here.
Gauge: 17 sts and 22 rows on larger needle in Pattern 2 = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"] Note: when working with silk it is very important to maintain the correct gauge -- silk will stretch if knit too loose. Silke is not machine washable.
Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is shown from the right side. The arrows indicate the starting points for different sizes.
Rib: * knit 2, purl 2 *. Repeat from * - *.
Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.
Body: Cast on 136-144-152 (168-176-184) sts on smaller circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 cm [1.5"] rib. Change to larger circular needles, knit Pattern 1 and then stockinette stitch. Attach a marker at the other side; front and back each have 68-72-76 (84-88-92) sts. When the work measures 12-14-16 (17-18-19) cm [4.75" - 5.5" - 6.25" (6.75" - 7" - 7.5")], knit Pattern 2 once, then Pattern 3 - start at the appropriate arrow on the chart and knit across the front, start at the arrow again and knit across the back.
Sizes 3/4 - 5/6 - 7/8 (9/10): When the work measures 24-27-33 (35) cm [9.5" - 10-5/8" - 13" (13.75")] divide the front at the center front for neck split. Knit the rest of work back and forth on needles. Hereafter, knit the 2 sts at the neck split edge in garter stitch. At the same time, when the work measures 29-31-34 (35) cm [11-3/8" - 12.25" - 13-3/8" (13.75")] divide for front and back and knit each part separately.
Sizes (11/12 - 13/14): When the work measures (36-38) cm [14-1/8" - 14-7/8"] divide for front and back and knit each part separately. When the work measures (38-39) cm [14-7/8" - 15.25"] divide the front at the center front for neck split. Knit the rest of work back and forth on needles. Hereafter, knit the 2 sts at the neck split edge in garter stitch.
Back: = 68-72-76 (84-88-92) sts. After Pattern 3 repeat Pattern 4 until the work measures approximately 42-45-50 (52-54-56) cm [16.5" - 17.75" - 19.75" (20.5" - 21.25" - 22")], then knit Pattern 1. At the same time, when the work measures 43-46-51 (53-55-57) cm [16-7/8" - 18-1/8" - 20" (20-7/8" - 21-5/8" - 22.5")], bind off the center 26-26-28 (28-30-30) sts for the neck. Then bind off 2 sts at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off after Pattern 1. The work measures approximately 45-48-53 (55-57-59) cm [17.75" -18-7/8" -20-7/8" (21-5/8" -22.5" - 23.25")].
Front: = 68-72-76 (84-88-92) sts. After Pattern 3 repeat Pattern 4 until the work measures approximately 42-45-50 (52-54-56) cm [16.5" - 17.75" - 19.75" (20.5" - 21.25" - 22")], then knit Pattern 1. At the same time, bind off for at the neck edge every other row: 12-12-13 (13-14-14) sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 time. Bind off all sts after Pattern 1. The work measures approximately 45-48-53 (55-57-59) cm [17.75" - 18-7/8" -20-7/8" (21-5/8" - 22.5" - 23.25")]
Sleeves: Cast on 28-32-32 (36-36-36) sts with on smaller double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 cm [1.5"] rib. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1, increasing 6-6-8 (4-6-6) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 34-38-40 (40-42-42) sts. After the rib, inc 1 st each side of marker 10-10-12 (14-15-15) times:
Size 3/4 years: alternately every 3rd and 4th row
Sizes 5/6 + 7/8 + 9/10 + 11/12 years: alternately every 4th and 5th row
Size 13/14 years: every 5th row
= 54-58-64 (68-72-72) sts. After Pattern 1 repeat Pattern 4 to finished dimensions. When the work measures 23-27-31 (34-37-40) cm [9" - 10-5/8" - 12.25" (13-3/8" - 14.5" - 15.75")], bind off 2 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needle. Then bind off on either side for sleeve caps every other row: 8 sts 2 times. Bind off when the work measures 26-30-34 (37-40-43) cm [10.25" - 11.75" - 13-3/8" (14.5" - 15.75" - 16-7/8")].
Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approximately 74-90 sts (divisible by 4+2) around the neck on smaller needles and knit 4-4-5 (5-6-6) cm [1.5" - 1.5" - 2" (2" - 2-3/8" - 2-3/8")] rib back and forth on needle, but always knit the outermost 2 sts at each side of neck split in garter stitch. Bind off. Sew on the sleeves and zipper.

All patterns are carefully reviewed, but we must make reservation for possible mistakes. All patterns are translated from Norwegian and you can always check the original pattern for measurements and calculations. Go to original pattern for design DROPS 52-25.
