Change to larger needles and knit Pattern 1 and then 2. Then knit Pattern 3 and at the same time on the first row of each Pattern 3 stripe, decrease evenly distributed along row:
Size S: dec 7 sts 4 times, dec 8 sts 2 times
Size M: dec 8 sts 6 times
Size L: dec 6 sts 6 times
= 178 (194-206) sts.
When work measures 43 (47-47) cm (17» (18.5», 18.5»), adjusting to get a whole stripe, knit Pattern 4 (start Pattern 4 with the opposite color to the last stripe of Pattern 3).
When the work measures 46 (50-52) cm (18-1/8» (19-5/8», 20.5»), work the next row as follows: 43 (47-50) sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 84 (92-98) sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 43 (47-50) sts for the front. Knit the rest of each part separately.
Front: = 43 (47-50) sts. Bind off at armhole edge every other row: 2 sts 1 (3-4) times, dec 1 st 4 (3-4) times = 37 (38-38) sts. When the work measures 59 (63-66) cm (23.25» (24.75», 27-1/8») bind off at neck edge every other row: 4 (5-5) sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, dec 1 st 2 times, then dec 1 st every 4th row 2 times. Bind off all sts when the work measures 70 (74-77) cm (27.5» (29-1/8», 30.25»).
Back: = 84 (92-98) sts. Shape armholes as for fronts =72 (74-74) sts. When the work measures 68 (72- 75) cm (26.75» (28-3/8», 29.5») bind off the center 22 (24-24) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts on each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 70 (74-77) cm (27.5» (29-1/8», 30.25»).
Sleeves: Cast on 34 (36-36) sts on smaller double pointed needles with petrol; join and place a marker at the join. Knit Seed st for 3 cm (1.25»). Change to larger needles and knit Pattern 2, increasing 6 sts evenly distributed on the first row = 40 (42-42) sts. Knit Pattern 3, then Pattern 4 to finished dimensions. At the same time, when the work measures 6 cm (2.5») inc 1 st each side of marker 21 (20-22) times:
Sizes S + M: every 4th row
Size L: alternately every 3rd and 4th row
= 82 (82-86) sts. When the work measures 47 (45.5-45) cm (18.5» (18», 17.75»), bind off 2 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off 3 sts each side every other row 7 (8-9) times = 36-30-28 sts left on needle, bind off all sts. The work measures 54 (54-55) cm (21.25» (21.25», 21-5/8»).
Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up 95-105 sts along the left front on smaller circular needles with petrol and knit seed st for 3 cm (1.25»), bind off all sts. Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm (3/8») make 7 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row).
