NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inch - click here. Crochet tip: Replace first dc at beg of row with 1 ch.
DECREASING TIP: Dec 1 dc by working 2 dc tog as follows: insert hook in the first dc, pull thread through, insert hook in next dc and pull thread through, make 1 YO and pull thread through all 3 sts on hook.

HAIR BAND:
Work 2 ch with crochet hook size 4 mm and 1 strand of each colour.
Row 1: 2 dc in 2nd ch from hook.
Row 2: See Crochet tip! 2 dc in each dc = 4 dc. Continue with 1 dc in each dc until piece measures approx 35 cm. Now dec 4 dc to 2 dc - See DECREASING TIP – and then dec 2 dc to 1 dc. Cut and fasten thread.
Twisted string: Cut 2 strands of each colour (= 4 strands) measuring 60 cm each. Twist them until they resist, fold string double and let it twist again. Attach one end of string to one end of hair band and tie a knot the other end of string. Make 1 more and attach to the other end of hair band.

CROCHET FLOWER:
Work 4 ch with crochet hook size 4 mm and 2 strands of the same colour and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
Round 1: *1 dc in ring, 3 ch,* repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round = 3 ch-loops.
Round 2: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 5 tr and 1 sl st = 3 leaves. Turn piece – work next round from the back of flower.
Round 3: 1 ch, 1 dc round first dc from round 1, 4 ch, 1 dc at the bottom of first leaf from round 2, * 4 ch, 1 dc round next dc from round 1, 4 ch, 1 dc at the bottom of next leaf from round 2 * repeat from *-* until there are a total of 5 ch-loops, and finish with 4 ch and 1 sl st in first dc on round = 6 ch-loops. Turn piece – work next round from the front of flower.
Round 4: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 tr and 1 sl st = 6 leaves. Turn piece – work next round from the back of flower.
Round 5: 1 ch, 1 dc round first dc from round 3, 5 ch, * 1 dc round next dc from round 3, 5 ch, * repeat from *-* until there is a total of 5 ch-loops, and finish with 5 ch and 1 sl st in first dc on round = 6 ch-loops. Turn piece – work next round from the front of flower.
Round 6: Crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 sl st, 6 tr and 1 sl st = 6 leaves. Cut and fasten threads. Crochet 1 flower with double strand in each colour and attach them to the hair band.
