What do I need to join?

The amount of yarn you need will depend of the size you are knitting, and that's why the first step is to choose which sweater size you'll be making. Measure a sweater that fits your child well and compare the measurements to the size chart below to choose the best fit!

Sizes: 2 - 3/4 - 5/6 - 7/8 - 9/10 - 11/12 years

Size (by height in cm): 92 - 98/104 - 110/116 - 122/128 - 134/140 - 146/152

Size (by height in feet): 3ft – 3ft3/3ft5 – 3ft7/3ft9 – 4ft/4ft2 – 4ft5/4ft7 – 4ft9/4ft12

Yarn

Below you'll find a list of the materials needed for the sweater. We'll be knitting with DROPS Air but we have also added DROPS Nepal as alternative. Remember however that you can choose another quality from Yarn Group C. Use our yarn calculator to find out how much of a different DROPS yarn you would need.

- DROPS double pointed needles, size 5,5 mm = US 9
- DROPS circular needles, size 5,5 mm = US 9 - in lengths 40 and 60 cm = 16” and 24” for the stockinette stitch.
- DROPS double pointed needles, size 4,5 mm = US 7
- DROPS circular needles, size 4,5 mm = US 7 - in lengths 40 and 60 cm = 16” and 24” for the rib edge.

Remember that the needle size indicated is only a guide. The knitting gauge for this pattern is 16 stitches in width and 20 rows in height with stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm = 4” x 4”. If you have too many stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a larger needle size. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm = 4”, change to a smaller needle size.
